raḍiyallāhu ʿanhu — may Allah be pleased with him

Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhu) was the grandson of the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ, the son of ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib and Fāṭimah al-Zahrāʾ (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhumā). The Prophet ﷺ said of him and his brother: "Ḥasan and Ḥusayn are the leaders of the youth of Paradise." He was martyred at Karbalāʾ on the Day of ʿĀshūrā, 10 Muḥarram 61 AH.
His portrait is his record: no image survives, and none is needed.
